COVID-19 Guidelines for Extended Trips

COVID-19 variants and influenza continue to pose health threats, particularly to people who are 65 and older, according to the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Since many club members fit that description, the Kick ‘N Gliders Executive Board urges members to follow these steps:

  • Stay up to date on flu and COVID vaccinations.
  • Get tested for COVID on the day before leaving home for a club ski trip.
  • Bring at-home COVID test kits with you – and use them if you feel sick during a trip.
  • If you get a positive reading on a test, go home. If that’s not possible, quarantine yourself to prevent spreading the virus.
  • If you get a negative result but still feel sick, isolate yourself from others till you feel better, and test yourself again for COVID 48 hours later in case the first test results were a false negative.

A club member who cancels or cuts short a trip because of illness generally qualifies for a refund of most, if not all, of the money paid, depending on trip finances and innkeeper requirements.
