Fern Park<\/h4><\/div>

With 22-miles of trails for xc skiing & snowshoeing, Fern park offers great skiing. There is no fee and most of the trails are groomed. Large hills and challenging terrain makes Fern Park a wonderland for more experienced cross-country skiers. Even inexperienced skiers can manage some of the trails at the entrance or that are best accessed from the trailhead on Limekiln Road. There is an approx. 2km loop that is lit in the winter when snow is on the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cascade Lake Trail<\/h4><\/div>
\n

The 5.5 mile trail around Cascade Lake is full of old forest, lake views (best from the old girls camp called Lake Cascade Camp), a 40-ft waterfall, and even some history. Although the web descriptions of the trail all talk about hiking it, it is frequently used as a ski trail in the winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moss Lake Trail<\/h4><\/div>
\n

The pleasant, 2.5 mile loop around Moss Lake is an easy ski except for the descent to a bridge at the halfway mark going counterclockwise around the lake. At the 1.8 mile mark there is a 1.4 mile side trail leading to Bubb Lake and then on to Sis Lake. The map also indicates access to the Sis Lake end of the trail from SR-28 but that stretch is more suitable for summertime hiking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adirondack Woodcraft Camps<\/h4><\/div>

Doug & Christina Bartlett purchased this existing summer camp about 2017. They have revived the camp’s traditional ski trail system. They groom about four miles of delightful trails through their extensive property. The trails are mostly single track and trackset. There is an honor system box in the ski center. ($5.00 at the writing.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Big Otter Lake Trail<\/h4><\/div>

This trail follows a rough jeep trail into the Ha-De-Ron-Dah Wilderness to Big Otter Lake. In winter you enter from the trailhead entering to your left onto a short section of snowmobile trail, finding the trail about 100 yards on your left. It is 7.4 miles one way to Big Otter Lake so we often turn around at the junction with Moose River Mountain Trail, 5.2 miles in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chub Lake Trail<\/strong><\/h4><\/div>

This decidedly back country 5.6 mile in-and-out ski is entered via a private road, mapped as Judson Rd, off Higby Road. Although gated, it is marked as skiing allowed. Transitioning to a trail it remains level but becomes increasing challenging until it reaches the outlet stream from Chub Lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sagamore Great Camp Lake<\/h4><\/div>

This is a pleasant 3.7 mile ski on an old carriage road which circles the lake and provides views across the lake to the Great Camp Sagamore, once the summer home of the Vanderbilts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
