Kick N Gliders Executive Committee Meeting
Thursday, July 29, 2021
Attendees: Fred Burgess, Marilyn Grove, Bill Stine, Andrea Hospodar, Tanya Richter, Fred Richter, Nancy Kauhl, Dave LeRoy, Cheryl Capitani, Nancy Class, David Walborn
President Fred Burgess called the meeting to order at 8:04pm.
Andrea Hospodar announced that she had 32 people sign up for North Conway. She was able to add three additional condos. Nancy Borremans will take half the group of participants and she will take the other half. Three people from the New Jersey group have been banned from Stonehurst Manor stemming from a problem on the last trip.
We had a lengthy discussion regarding COVID concerns which stem from the Delta variants spread and the large percentage of Americans who refuse to get vaccinated. Three scenarios were presented: Do nothing regarding our present trip policy. Leave the decision of trip participants up to the trip leaders. Issue a blanket statement policy regarding trip participation and vaccination requirements. We decided that option one of not doing anything was really not on the table. Letting the decision up to the trip leaders required too much discretion. We discussed developing a blanket club policy. Bill Stine made a motion to agree to have a blanket club policy regarding COVID and trip participation. Fred Burgess seconded the motion. All were in favor. No opposed.
We discussed how to enforce the proposed club policy of requiring trip participants to be fully vaccinated. Do we use the honor system or require participants to show proof of vaccination? What will our policy be regarding negative COVID testing prior to trips? Will proof of COVID antibodies through lab testing be accepted. Who will keep track of proof of immunization? We discussed medical privacy in this regard. Bill Stine made a motion that he and Fred will work on and submit policy specifics regarding our vaccination policy. It will be brief and clear. Tanya seconded the motion. All in favor. No one opposed. This policy will be done and circulated within 3 days so we can have it available prior to the trip lottery August 16, 2021.
It was decided to hold the lottery virtually this year. Bill Stine will set this up and Nancy Class will let trip leaders know of this decision. Two trips have been overbooked this year and will be subject to the lottery: Laurentians and Lake Placid. Dave Leroy will come up with something and distribute to people on overbooked trips.
Programs: Cheryl expressed concern regarding speakers/presenters being reluctant to do in person presentations. Discussed holding Zoom meetings and the need for good internet connection to do a meeting. Cheryl will investigate this with the Center Street Grill. We discussed wearing masks to in person meetings vs outdoor meetings. We will wait until closer to the time to discuss and come up with a policy regarding vaccinations and club meetings/events.
Meeting adjourned at 8:46pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Marilyn S. Grove
